PD Blowers
The Positive Displacement Blower is the beating heart of your pneumatic conveying system.
Your blower breathes life into your operation. It’s the single most important component of a pneumatic conveyor: they are the motive force behind the air-power that picks up material and carries it to the destination.
US Systems offers several brands of PD blowers including Gardner-Denver, Tuthill, Roots, and M-D Pneumatics. Contact us for a quote today.
How a PD Blower Works:
A positive displacement (PD) blower works by trapping a volume of air or gas in a chamber and then displacing it with rotating elements:
- Air enters: Air enters the blower through an inlet port at the top of the chamber.
- Impellers rotate: Two or three rotating impellers, or lobes, inside the blower spin in opposite directions.
- Air is trapped and displaced: The impellers trap the air between them and move it from the top to the bottom of the chamber.
- Air is discharged: The blower pressurizes and discharges the air to create circulation.
- Process repeats: The process repeats with each rotation, delivering a steady flow of air or gas.
PD blowers are designed for applications that require a consistent airflow at varying pressures. They have many advantages, including:
- Energy efficient: PD blowers are often more efficient than other technologies.
- Low maintenance: PD blowers have fewer moving parts, so they require less maintenance and have a longer service life.
- Durable: PD blowers are designed to operate in dusty or dirty environments.
- Oil free: The air delivered by PD blowers is 100% oil free.
